Anti-vaxxers: Half of parents ‘will not give kids coronavirus vaccine’ says poll

Some parents were also wary of sending their children back to school with nearly a third planning to keep their kids home beyond September. The survey of 5,000 parents by Childcare.co.uk found 45 percent will reject any offer of a Covid vaccine for their children. Of those, 86 percent worried it could be unsafe and have “nasty side effects”.

More than a third thought children did not need to be vaccinated as they are at low risk and one in five believed coronavirus was “fake and doesn’t really exist”.

The survey came as China’s state-owned Sinopharm announced its coronavirus vaccine could be available by December.

If successful, it plans to make 220 million doses per year, at a cost of £100 each.
