A Doctor Went Viral on TikTok for a Simple ‘Socks in Bed’ Sleep Hack

Oh, lockdown—if you’re not messing with our screen time levels, you’re messing with our sleep. Thankfully, a doctor has recently gone viral on TikTok after sharing a super simple hack that could help anybody who is struggling to fall asleep—and it involves wearing clothing that you’ll almost definitely already own.

Dr. Jess Andrade, a resident doctor with over one million followers, explains that although it’s a divisive topic for some, she’s firmly on the side of Team Socks In Bed. “So let’s talk about people that wear socks to bed,” she begins her video (which has now been viewed over 19 million times). She goes on to explain, “Wearing socks makes your feet warm and this opens up the blood vessels that cool the body down.”

As for how exactly this helps you sleep? “The body being cool tells the brain that it’s time for bed, so actually, people that wear socks tend to fall asleep faster. Dr. Jess, out!”
