Stassi Schroeder Just Posted A Makeup-Free Photo Revealing Her Psoriasis

  • Stassi Schroeder of Vanderpump Rules posted a new makeup-free photo to Instagram.
  • She mentioned that she currently has psoriasis covering her face.
  • Stassi has previously talked about how stress exacerbates her psoriasis.

Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder opened up on Instagram about how quarantine is affecting her skin. She suffers from the skin condition psoriasis, and her no-makeup selfie shows the scaly patches across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose.

“It’s a mood: roots out, psoriasis covered face… wearing a sweatshirt of myself,” she captioned the photo. (Her hair actually looks great, just saying.)

Stassi has spoken out about the condition in the past, and shared her advice for living with psoriasis. “The advice I would give to anyone who has psoriasis is to let go of any anxiety about it because there’s nothing you can do,” Stassi told TODAY. “If you stress about it, it’s only going to make it worse because it’s brought on by stress a lot of the time. And what’s the point? You’re just going to be miserable.”

Psoriasis is a skin condition where the body produces new skin cells at a faster-than-normal rate, causing the new cells to build up in scaly patches called plaques. And yes, it is sometimes caused by stress. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, stress is a known trigger of psoriasis, and periods of intense stress can cause flare-ups.

In addition to treating psoriasis with medication, dermatologists suggest finding ways to manage stress, like yoga and meditation, and journaling, preventing possible flare-ups.

Since it’s tough to relax these days, the most important thing is to be kind to your body and cut yourself some slack—nobody’s perfect, and there’s no right way to quarantine.
