This Instagram Account Is Entirely Dedicated To Embracing Your Natural Greys

Enter, Grombre: a 37,000 follower-strong Insta account dedicated to “a radical celebration of the natural phenomenon of grey hair.”

Within the 900+ posts, there are pics of ex-Olympians, women who’ve dealt with addiction and those who are simply fed up with the fact that while their partners can freely embrace their salt and pepper streaks, for them it’s still taboo. It’s a place for people to come together to gripe about the lengthy process of growing out their roots or simply marvel at the magic that happens when you ditch the dye for good.

Above all, its real women supporting real women, no matter their age or ethnicity. And. We. Dig, it!

Check out a few of our fave posts below:

"I live in an off-grid cabin during the summer months, and dying my roots every two weeks became almost impossible. This past summer however, I decided enough is enough, and took the opportunity to stop dying my hair once and for all. It’s been 8 months now, and while it wasn’t easy in the beginning, and I had a lot of doubts, I quickly embraced it and never looked back. I LOVE my natural silver color and can’t wait for it to grow out completely, but I am also really enjoying the 2-tone grow out process, as well as the looks that I get (good, bad, and puzzled). I feel empowered and free to be me, and I hope that I can inspire other women to consider going grey/silver too (once they are ready). There is a definite sisterhood and a knowing-look when us 'silver sisters' pass each other on the street. There is strength, honesty, and freedom in this process. 8 months down…another 12+ to go..!" @cowdogblue #grombre #gogrombre

“12 months feels like a real achievement. Not only have I gone a full year without dyeing my hair but I have gained a new perspective on myself, ageing, self-esteem and confidence. Embracing my natural colour and texture has given me the power to say ‘this is me and I love it’. You would think hair dye would create confidence but it did just the opposite for me bringing anxiety as my roots would begin to show. With my silver hair, I feel unique and also as if I am part of a secret club. Ever see someone else with silver hair across the room and your eyes meet and you just sort of nod at each other in recognition? If you are just starting out on this crazy journey and are still unsure; it's so worth it, keep going! Oh and welcome to the club!” @naturally_silver #grombre #gogrombre

“Happy Monday ? I love Mel Robbins definition of confidence as a willingness to try! And when you take action and see the results it builds that confidence for the next scary goal you have to achieve. . .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ?I was VERY scared to go gray! When my Silver crown came in it took me awhile to get used to but now I see it and I smile and some things you really won’t know until you try! . . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ?I applaud all the Silver newbies on the grombre journey who have a small inch of new growth or are halfway there! Keep going you got this??Be so proud you were willing to try at embracing who you want to be; uniquely YOU” @naturally_graysful #grombre #gogrombre

Dropping in to say hi?. Some of you noticed that grombre had gone quiet, and a few of you caught the note I published to stories one day in early December. In my three+ years of grombre I’ve never allowed myself a break, and this fall was filled with (beautiful but taxing) change. Through it all, I wasn’t myself and it became clear that something had to give. So I largely unplugged from grombre (I logged in maybe twice? Once by accident and the other time to check the overwhelming amounts of kind messages flooding the inbox… guys… thank you ?). That said, I am well (and I really mean that). I am deeply thankful for what the past few months have taught me and I have to say you were a large part of that, even if you didn’t know it. I can’t tell you how many messages I read, from ALL over the world, telling me that “you’ve been there,” or are currently “there,” and to “take my time” …(huge shout out to the girl whose sister drove to her house just to help her get out of bed and literally put pants on that day while they laugh/cried together… I see you??). Your kindness helped me to be kind to myself. When I started grombre, I did so because I wondered if there were others who felt the way I did about greying, getting older… being a woman in this world. Well, turns out I had the same curiosity about mental health. I was TERRIFIED to be transparent, and to take a break. What would come of it? Well, for one thing, I’ve realized just how widespread depression/anxiety reaches, and how important it is to talk about, and support one another. It’s a vital conversation, especially because you need to know that it doesn’t define you, and it belongs in this space. Thank you for your support. Your love. Your patience. Your kindness. I’m finding my new normal and stepping into a new beautiful season. As I slowly resume posting you will find changes here that reflect my heart the past few months. I’m excited for what 2020 has to hold. So much love ? Martha #grombre #gogrombre

“I loved my brown hair as much as I love my grey. Infact I don't see the transition to be difficult personally. I got greys in my early 20s. I colored them for several years till I wanted to. Stopped coloring when I didn't want to. I have had greys on and off for a couple of years. And last year, I finally decided to not color them any more. I didn't want to put unwanted chemicals in my body any more. Personally I don't see much difference in myself with either brown or grey hair However, I do realise it's different for others. Every now and then I have strangers looking at me in different ways ~ from being amused to being shocked. Some ask my age, some tell me I look odd, some whisper and laugh. I am growing used to all these now. I think there is no problem with coloring but I want people to realise 'Not Coloring' is also fine. It's not weird and definitely not abnormal. It's natural.” @chanchalbadsiwal_ #grombre #gogrombre
