Prince George May Be Destined to Be King, But He's Just Like Every Other School Kid In One Way

Prince George has the weight of his duty as future king resting on his shoulders, but right now, the 10-year-old is feeling pressure in another area of his life — and it’s one any kid his age can relate to.

While visiting Fitzalan High School in Cardiff, Wales on Tuesday, Kate Middleton talked about her eldest son’s education woes with the older students. In a TikTok shared by Matt Wilkinson of The Sun, the princess told the teenagers, “George is just at the beginning of being tested. He says, ‘Mummy, I keep getting tested all the time.’”

Kate continued, referencing the examinations students in the UK must take for college admissions similar to the SAT in the US. “But when it gets to A-levels, you feel like you’re on it,” she told them, recalling her own school days. School exams are a huge deal for kids all around the globe — the pressure of performing well is a universal stressor among students, so it makes sense that even George is feeling the heat.

Just days ago, it was confirmed that the Princess of Wales would not be accompanying Prince William at the third annual Earthshot Prize Awards in Singapore. While Kate has attended the ceremony for the past two years, a scheduling conflict is keeping her at home this time — and it has everything to do with George’s studies.

The same week the Earthshot Prinze Awards are to take place in November is a big week for the 10-year-old. He’ll undergo several days of testing at school, and to help him prepare and get through the week, Kate will stay in the UK to support her eldest son.
