Be mindful about what you put into your body. Whatever you eat is going to have an impact on your health – good or bad. Which superfood can add years onto your life?

Plus, lower blood pressure reduces a person’s risk of heart disease.
Researchers from the The Cleveland Clinic Foundation conducted a large study of over 13,000 people.
The found that an increased arginine intake corresponded with lower levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) – an inflammation marker.
And high levels of CRP are linked to heart disease.
So, what is this superfood ingredient? The answer is hemp seeds.
Originating from the same species as marijuana – don’t worry, no one will have psychoactive disturbances from eating hemp seeds – the superfood comes from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa.
Hemp seeds have a mild, nutty flavour and can be consumed raw, cooked or roasted.
Technically a nut, hemp seeds are a great source of protein, providing all the essential amino acids the body needs.
J.C. Callaway from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, at the University of Kuopio, states hemp seeds contain 25 percent of protein.
The two main proteins in hemp seeds are edestin and albumin, which are both easily digestible.
The same researcher claims hemp seeds contain a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 that is optimal for human health.
And Callaway recognises that hemp seeds have been used to treat various disorders for thousands of years.

Experiencing eczema? Fatty acids, such as omega-3, may affect immune responses in your body.
Research from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, at the University of Kuopio, found that hemp seeds improved the symptoms of eczema.
Their 20-week randomised, single-blind crossover study attributed the alleviation of eczema symptoms to properties inside hemp seeds.
Specifically, the research points towards the omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids found in the superfood.
For women, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) causes somebody to experience physical or emotional symptoms.
This is thought to be caused by sensitivity to the hormone prolactin.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), found in hemp seeds, produces prostaglandin E1, which has been shown to reduce the effects of prolactin.
To experience the health benefits of hemp seeds first-hand, order it online at Holland & Barrett.
