Research conducted in Japan, Sweden, Greece, and Australia all have a longer lifespan than other countries.
Many believe this comes down to their love of beans and legumes which are popular staples in those countries.
The Japanese consume soybeans and the Swedish eat brown beans and peas.
While Mediterranean people are fond of lentils, chickpeas, and white beans.
Therefore, it makes sense to attribute a longer and healthier life with eating more legumes.
What makes beans so great?
Health experts declare that you will be hard-pressed to find a more perfect food than beans.
Beans are excellent sources of protein, vitamins, mineral and complex carbohydrates.
They are extremely low in fat and contain virtually no added salt.
What is best, the tiny beans pack a great punch and leave a person feeling fuller for longer.
Beans also have the lowest-fibre with a cup of high-fibre beans, like pinto or black beans totalling a whopping 16 grams of fibre.
This amount of fibre equates to roughly eight slices of whole-wheat bread.
Beans are primarily cholesterol-reducing fibre making them heart-healthy.
Having a healthy heart, getting enough fibre and protein are all ways to help boost life expectancy.
