Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are redefining the concept of power couple.
The singer and Dancing with Stars host and baseball legend both posted a video of their recent sweat session at the Dallas Cowboys gym in Texas on Instagram.
J-Lo’s commented, “Gettin’ it in w my fave workout partner!!!”
More cryptically, A-Rod wrote, “Macha 13 on 🔥🔥”
We’ve covered the topic of working out with your partner extensively at Men’s Health, and thankfully, the experts’ consensus is that couples that sweat together tend to stay together. This bodes well for J-Lo and A-Rod, who recently got engaged. “By working out as a couple, you can face the challenge together through positive reinforcement,” trainer Derek Peruo, C.S.C.S., of Peak Performance in Manhattan, told us in a 2015 story on the subject.
During the minute-long video, J-Lo and A-Rod perform a high-energy total body workout. The fit couple do a series of exercises including curls, bench press, and lat pulldowns for an upper body split, then battle ropes and the Jacobs Ladder for cardio. They also do sled pushes and then agility drills. J-Lo even busts out some dance moves—but Rodriguez doesn’t join in with any twirls of his own.
The two take on the exercises with help from trainers, but they help each other push through the workout, too. J-Lo encourages A-Rod as he pushes a sled along the green turf. A-Rod reciprocates, coaching J-Lo through back extensions. There’s even some playful PDA as A-Rod pats J-Lo’s butt.
