Hair loss treatment – 70p natural oil to protect against alopecia and boost hair growth

Hair loss can be a natural part of the ageing process, and most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. We can even lose up to 100 hairs on our bodies every day, without even noticing. But you could prolong the life of your locks by regularly using coconut oil, it’s been revealed.

Losing your hair could be caused by a number of different conditions, said the NHS.

Stress, weight loss, or even an iron deficiency can lead to some form of hair loss.

But, there are some home treatments you can use that might help to prevent some types of hair loss, including alopecia.

One of the easiest ways to stimulate hair growth at home is to simply use coconut oil, it’s been claimed.

Using coconut oil is a great way to improve the strength of your hair, according to medical website Healthline.

It contains compounds that protect the hair follicles from protein loss.

People that use coconut oil on their hair appear to have healthier, thicker hair, it added.

All that you need to do is apply the oil directly onto your hair, and massage it into the scalp.

“Your hair is said to be your crowning glory, and it’s normal to want to improve your hair if it’s not to your satisfaction,” it said.

“Coconut oil contains fatty acids that penetrate inside the hair shaft and reduce protein loss from hair.

“Massage coconut oil into your scalp and all of your hair. If your hair is dry, you can also use it as a leave-in treatment.

“There needs to be more research on coconut oil as a promoter of hair growth, but it’s been shown to improve the health and luster of hair and has been used for centuries.”

You can use coconut oil both before or after a shower, added the medical website.

People with the oiliest hair may want to consider leaving coconut oil on their hair for a few hours, before washing it off.

Massaging the oil into your scalp has the added benefit of stimulating blood flow to the top of the head.

A simple head massage has therefore been claimed to prolong the life of hair.

Losing your hair isn’t necessarily something to be worried about.

But, on rare occasions, it could be a tell-tale sign of another medical condition.

You should speak to a doctor if you suddenly start losing your hair, or if you develop bald patches.

There are other treatments for hair loss – including transplants – but they aren’t available on the NHS, and you’ll need to pay for them.
