Lili Reinhart Reveals She Actually Has OCD After Backlash For Comments On 'Fallon'

  • Lili Reinhart just revealed she’s had OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) since elementary school.
  • The Riverdale actress explained her condition as a response to social media backlash after an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
  • She was talking about how her Hustlers character vomits whenever she gets nervous, and the fake vomit used on set was a trigger.

People have thrown around the term “OCD” for ages to describe being anal about something. But obsessive-compulsive disorder is a real illness, and it’s understandable some people might be offended when it’s thrown around like it’s NBD. Well, Lili Reinhart recently went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and got heat for calling herself OCD. Turns out, she actually has the disorder.

“I just want to put out there re: my Fallon interview — I actually do suffer from OCD, it wasn’t just a little quip I made on a talk show,” the Riverdale actress wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had OCD since I was in elementary school. So, yes. I do have the right to talk about it. Thanks.”

I just want to put out there re: my Fallon interview— I actually do suffer from OCD, it wasn’t just a little quip I made on a talk show. I’ve had OCD since I was in elementary school. So, yes. I do have the right to talk about it. Thanks.

Lili went on the show on November 14 to chat about her character in Hustlers. Lili’s character would throw up whenever she got nervous, and Lili said the fake vomit they used on set was an OCD trigger for her.

“It was actually animal crackers and Sprite mixed together,” she said on the show. “I thought I was going to have a problem here because I have this really like, OCD thing with floaters in water and in drinks. Like if my drink has a little floater in it, I’m like [gags], get it out. That’s when I want to throw up! So having a cup of something that basically looked like ‘floaters’ in water was like my worst nightmare.”

Lili said she was ultimately able to deal with it, though. “It tasted okay. It just tasted like animal crackers,” she said.

Fans ended up thanking Lili for being candid about her mental health after her tweet. “I’ve had OCD my entire life. I’ve even been hospitalized for it. The fact that you feel comfortable talking about it is inspiring for me. Thank you for being you!” one fan wrote.

“Thank you for being so open about mental health. I started showing signs of OCD 3 years ago and I’ve been dealing with it ever since and it’s honestly terrifying,” another follower said.

“I honestly admire you for the fact you’re not afraid to talk about your issues as well as mental health. More people should be like you. You’re an amazing person for doing that. It really inspires me as someone who struggles with OCD depression and anxiety,” still another commented.

Props to Lili for being so open about her condition!
